Yesterday was Under 18s Camera Club day for WexPhotoVideo! Me and Gudbjorg Ylfa led a workshop for students interested in fashion photography on location. Wex provided us with a base at The Garage, located in the heart of the city and just a short walk from numerous locations, enabling our attendees aged 14-17, to photograph our model for the session, Hayley Bird, in a variety of poses against city backdrops.
Hayley took the city of Norwich as her fashion inspiration… ‘Cool, chic and hippy’, and despite the cold, wind and sleet worked tirelessly for the three-hour session. We did move indoors after the first two-hours to provide us all with a little warmth and to make use of the brightly painted walls and corridors inside The Garage.
Attendees were instructed on, how to make the best of a location, how to use natural light to enhance the model and clothing, composition, posing and how to work smart with health and safety in mind. I set a task for each attendee: to shoot a full-length and three-quarter length fashion picture for each set. Both Gudbjorg Ylfa and I were surpised at the keen eye and artistic flair our attendees displayed.
Below are some behind-the-scenes pictures which Gudbjorg Ylfa (pictured left) captured during our session.
