If I said I felt honoured to be awarded the accolade of Grand Master Photographer – an award held by only seven other individuals globally – by The Societies of Photographers, it would be an understatement. Elated is closer to the truth! Why? Because this award is rather special to me, as it recognises those who have given back to the industry – I truly feel, regardless of our industry, we should all try to invest a little of our time in assisting others to be the best they can be in their chosen profession and in turn help future-proof our industry.
A friend sitting next to me at the Annual Awards Presentation (held in London earlier this month), said to me with a smile on her face, ‘you didn’t move when your name was announced and needed to be prodded into action to make your to the stage by a colleague sitting to your left‘.
I was shocked and honoured to receive this award in the company of some of our industry’s finest practitioners, some who had flown in from across the globe to be present… Being only the second female to be recognised in this arena is also something I’m rather proud of.
I would like to thank The Societies for recognising me for this award. I’m still smiling… What a wonderful start to 2019.
