On this midsummer’s day, the day when the sun reaches its highest position in the sky providing us with the longest period of daylight, I thought I’d take a little time – and use that extra daylight to catch up on what’s been happening.
SWPP Imagemaker Magazine
My column in the latest issue features Tony Moore, who first came to my attention in 2016 when I was a judge-in-training for The Societies. Tony’s unique style of mixing commercial with fine art really caught my eye and made me want to know more about Mr Moore! So turn to page 72 of the magazine (June-July issue), immerse yourself in some of Tony’s pictures and read about his photographic journey.
I’ve many more interviews lined up for 2019, providing an insight into photographers making a living in our current economic climate, which as most of us know can be challenging.
Photography Website Copywriting
It’s been an interesting year with writing copy too, all for photographers starting out in the industry and building their first websites. If you weren’t aware this was a service I offered, take a look here. Writing was actually the path which led me to photography. Having been a freelance features writer for numerous county magazines for a number of decades, being asked to provide the pictures for my articles was the catalyst which set me on my current path. The thrill of achieving my first glossy, front cover early 2000 will never leave me!
The school awards and prom season is in full swing. It’s been lovely to be asked back to schools I’ve worked with, in more than a photography capacity over the years, to create pictures which students can look back on in years to come. I’ve also been working in the care sector providing press, event and PR pictures – this has been an incredibly rewarding time for me personally, and an area I’m privileged to work in. This year has also seen a return to shooting interiors and some architecture!
It’s also been an ongoing pleasure to judge qualification panels for The Societies, plus mentor photographers to move forward in their photographic journey and become the best they can be.
What’s coming soon?
Angela’s Imaginarium – This summer will see the launch of Angela’s Imaginarium which will see me dip my toe back into the social photography market waters. My time for this venture will be limited to 2-4 days per month and will be by pre-arranged consultation, per experience session.
The Societies Convention 2020 – I’m honoured to return to this London-based annual convention as a Speaker and Judge for the 20 x 16 Print Competition. This year my Masterclass will focus on the benefits of mentoring, be that group or individual – I’ll also be interviewing a couple of well-known photographers live! Take a look here for what’s on!
Creative Light Magazine – Look out for the next issue and my informative feature on headshots, or as I call them… Business portraits – there’s not such thing as ‘just a headshot’ in my book!
