Three decades as a freelance features writer allows me to share an insight into what picture styles and copy work in a constantly-changing and at times saturated business market
Written copy was the initial path which led to me training as a photographer; allowing me to deliver the dual package of photography and copy to commissioning Editors.
These days I write a limited number of non-fiction features for county and national publications and have a regular column in Professional Imagemaker Magazine.
What is a tear sheet?
The page a photographer used to tear from a magazine and add to their physical portfolio to showcase their work.  Tear sheets are usually digital nowadays, to share in online portfolios as proof of client commissions; this is why some photographers charge more if they can’t show pictures as proof of their work.
What is copy?
Written material intended for reproduction in printed form for publication, also in digital form for online magazines too; this can be for the purpose of advertising, marketing and features.

Angie's contributions to Norfolk Magazine have been superb, with outstanding photos and copy. She is great at coming up with ideas, doesn't push it if I don't think they will work for us, and delivers on time.

She's also been very flexible and patient on the occasions when things have not quite gone to plan and is excellent at keeping me updated on progress. Can't ask for more from a freelance contributor!

Angie Adams has been writing her regular feature in Professional Imagemaker since August 2015 which as acquired something of a cult status! The features are by invitation only and harder to get than an appearance on Oprah! Always insightful, Angie manages to tease out the inner workings of her interviewees' and features are lavishly illustrated.
